Stripped Screws on right Crankcase Cover

The folks at jdvproducts.com have a set of Vessel 5/16 hex drive impact bits for #2, #3, and #4 JIS, plus a straight slot bit. The kit part number is 431801, for about $11.00. You'll be surprised at what they can loosen. Regards, Chase

This discussion makes me wonder if these screws are easier to come by than I think. I have been carefully replating and polishing my screws but would happily replace them if I had a source. Is there one?

It may be a little late for this for you, but I like to try to spin the screw out with a small chisel right on the edge.

The combination of tapping and the leverage out on the edge will usually break it free.

You do have to be careful to not touch the cover as you try to spin the screw, and it will occasionally slip off, but I've removed a lot of seized screws that way. You can also add heat.
