Steering Damper Spring
Thank you, LM. You've already been a great help to me and many others.
I reinstalled the damper assembly. It's really a simple mechanism, but I found that it's quite easy to misalign that damper nut. It doesn't take much to be out of alignment with the steering stem slot, but still look alright. Rather than turning the nut onto the threaded shaft, then trying to align the nut with the steering stem, everything should be held in place first and then the shaft lowered into it and threaded together. Now the damper knob turns freely and easily, where before it was stiff and very hard to budge.
