Took the Dream to The Angier Bike Fest in Angier, North Carolina yesterday and entered it in the antique class for the show.
The good news I came home with a First Place Plaque. There was also a $50.00 cash prize that I donated back to the charity organization supported by the event. The Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation.
The honesty disclaimer, there were only 4 bikes entered in the antique class.
The not so good news the bike ran fine going out to breakfast and then to the show. Seven hours later when I started it to ride home it was only firing on the right hand cylinder.
I spent the night worrying about having to tear down the engine and rebuilding it.
This morning I turned it over a few times then pulled the plugs they were both clean and wet with fuel. There was good compression so that allied some of my fears. When I tested the left hand plug for spark I got spark across the gap when the electrode was held near the engine. When I ground the spark plug threads against the engine no spark. Replaced the plug and tested for spark again with normal results, no spark when held close to the engine, spark when the plug threads were grounded. Buttoned it up and it fired right up on both cylinders. I'm a happy man.
