You might try to spin the speedometer with a drill and some type of an attachment that will fit into the speedometer and see if it spins and if the speedometer registers speed. If it does, the problem is probably not the speedometer.

woodsie if you can tell me how to open up a speedometer i may have a working spring i have 2 speedo's i want to make one good one i'm sure the spring should be good in one of them.

I opened mine using a screwdriver using very light pressure so as not to crack the chrome bezel. Pry up easy, a little at a time, working all around the bezel, be slow and deliberate, you may have to go around several times to get it so it will come off. Try not to mar it too much.

Your welcome. The only other way that I know of is to send both to Foreign speedo in San Diego and they can do it for you. Cost is usually about $125 and they should be able to fix one or both. They do a lot of the old stuff and are very good.

speedometer for 65 CA77 how to open

i got the bezel off with very little damage. ok it's open and i find the base of one of the lite bulbs stuck between the gears and the plastic tube for 1 lite bulb was dinitegrated.is there any site on the forum that shows how to take the insides apart.if not i'll have to take you up on the San Diego shop.thanks again for your help.
