Replacement handlebarsReplacement handlebarsI am planning to build my 1967 C77 as a hippie bike and would like to replace the (repaired) handlebars with a low-age style. I also don't like the original throttle (which doesn't return to idle when released) and would replace it with a more modern single-cable twist grip. I know this is going to require custom cables and wiring.
Has anyone done replacement handlebars? I am looking for a supplier of bars, throttle & grips, bar-mounted switches, new mirror mounts. Suggestions? Even when the friction screw is completely backed out, the throttle doesn't close by itself. My '62 Honda 50 is the same. I can't remember if the throttles closed by themselves back in the 1960s but the design works rather like a worm gear and may "reverse drive" very well, particularly when worn. I have found replacement single-cable grips that should cure that problem.
