CA77 Battery box

Post by Creekwalker » Fri Feb 27, 2015 5:03 pm

My battery box has broken where a thin strip of metal makes up half of the slot where the side cover fits. Box appears to be welded in which makes replacement unlikely. Any solutions? The rusty piece is supposed to be up and attached to the battery box. The arrow indicates where the broken piece is supposed to be attached.

So they two pieces just broke apart from each other or the side piece snapped before they meet?

Drilling out the old bracket isn't that hard just need a spot weld bit. I have an extra late version you could use as parts maybe. Or if you don't have a welder just use another strip of metal and rivet it in place to attach the two.

The piece broke just as it makes a 90 degree. You have been helpful in giving me a couple of things to consider. Thinking that I may replace the complete thin strip. Not real high priority at the minute. The tires are rotting off. I really cringe at spending hundreds of $$$ to have them rot off again.
