need Ideas on a better seat , Dream

Post by russ » Mon Apr 28, 2014 5:24 pm

my son and I went for a ride sat on our bikes , his 95 suzy intruder and my 67 dream . rode great, would just eat the turns . ended up being out for about 6 hours total, had plenty of stops for smoking and such . but on the last hour I just couldn't ride it anymore , we had to switch off to get me home. I have an extra seat frame . any idea on a way to improve the seat without lookin screwed up . we were on our way to motorcycle mama's/ good deal daves ,tryin to find seats or ideas but it turned out he and his wife passed away and the yard is no more. 18 and 180 off of route 2 in west Virginia , real nice road for a ride though. thanks for any help as my wife and I would like to make the AMA event this year on the old Honda .

I throw a sheepskin over my seat for long rides. Makes a huge difference. They are available in black to blend in better.

Yah, kinda like sitting on a bale of hay with a piece of fabric on it. I'm good for about 45 minutes. Maybe one of those lambs wool covers would help with our aged hind quarters!

Going thru the same thing myself.

Stock seat is definitely good for short distances only..

The OEM Honda solo seats look better but are hard to find.

I'm thinking about grafting an aftermarket solo onto a stock frame.

Several members have installed aftermarket solo seats with custom made hardware.

Also thought about adapting a Honda 90 solo seat, as they look to be somewhat similar to the OEM solo seats, but more available.

Better Dream Seat

There is an eBay vender called KnoPlace that sells gel for seats. They will custom cut sizes and I think have different thicknesses, too.

I cut out a spot in the original HONDA foam per their instructions and added the gel right where I sit and back for the passenger. I have not taken a long road trip, but, adding the gel makes a BIG difference in comfort compared to the stock seat.

I recommend the seat cover by the guy in Canada with the bronze HONDA logo.

the gel sounds promising , from here to the event as the drunk crow flies will take us about 3 hours or so . I put a bid on e-bay for a double bucket seat , maybe with my extra frame I can invent something not to stupid lookin. will check out the gel as all would look stock , would be a nice upgrade for near home and maybe even more. thanks for ideas , and keep em commin please .
