Charlies place electronic ign

Post by SMBH » Mon Apr 14, 2014 1:28 pm

Has any one taken delivery of the new Electronic Ignition from Charlies place this year, I have one on order I sent off my deposit on the 23rd Jan. I have mailed them twice the last reply I had on 23rd March was-

They have been arriving in very small batches. The first 15 have been sent out, the second batch arrived today and when the third batch arrives, we will be requesting final payment for the balance due and sending you your new ignition. It should be very soon! We are truly sorry for the delay.

I do not want to keep mailing them, so as it is now 14th April and there web site still says they will be available by end of February.

So has any one taken delivery ?

I don't know about the 305 ignition units but the one I received for my CB175 was faulty with misfiring and poor performance on my first ride. I put the points back in and it ran fine. I contacted them with my issue and this is what I received.

Dear valued customers,
With regret, we write to inform you that we are recalling the first 100 ignitions we sent out. This includes the one that you received.
We have discovered that a faulty part was being used in the first batch of ignitions. A critical sensor that we approved after rigorous testing (on the sample units) was not the one that was used in manufacturing. This came as a distressing surprise to us and we are taking action against that manufacturer.
We have now moved all production to a new manufacturing facility that is honoring our tested design and is using all the correct parts that we tested. We are going to replace your ignition unit (at no charge to you). We sincerely apologize for this inconvenience.
We have complete confidence that our ignition design is flawless and that with our new manufacturer taking no shortcuts we will have the best product on the market.
In terms of timing, we expect to be sending out replacement units within four weeks. Thank you again and please do not hesitate to reach out to us if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Charlie's Place
