16" tire sizes

Post by tom0811 » Wed Jun 11, 2014 6:03 pm

I need new tires for my 65 CA77. I do not like the tread pattern of the available 16" by 3.25". Is it possible to use a 3.00 or 3.50 on my rims? Thanks. Tom

I'm not so sure about a 3.50 on the front. It's really tight with modern 3.25" tires under the CA77 front fender.

The 3.50x16 tires I have fitted seem to fit without a problem. I can get a few pictures if you need them.

I recently picked up a set of Heidenau 3.50x16 tires from Hahnda and they look pretty good on the bike. I just got them on and haven't ridden it yet, but they seem to fit fine within the fenders. The front, lower right side rear fender mount (the speedometer cable guide) is a little close - about 1/4", but that may just be specific to my bike. The tires seem very well constructed.
