Cleaning Aluminum Wheel hubs

Post by ggray » Sun Jul 15, 2007 9:53 am

Does anyone have a suggestion for cleaning years of grime off aluminum wheel hubs without disassembling the hub/spoke/rim assembly???

Here is a photo of the wheel I'm trying to clean up. Note the LH portion of the photo.

Thanks,

Gary

Gary when you get the answer I'd like to know as well. So far I've removed the spokes from six wheels on bikes that I'm doing. I just don't see any way of cleaning them with out tearing them down. Paul

Paul,

I think I will go to one of the big truck shops, like Kenworth or Perterbilt and see what they use.

Ya, without tearing down the wheel to get to the hub, it's a chore for sure.

Will let you know what I find out, if anything.
