new guy with cb77 basket case...

hello guys and gals. this morning i went and picked up a cb77 from a gentleman on craigslist. supposedly he obtained it from the original owner.....who happened to have disassembled the majority of the bike before unloading it. Has been in its current state for around 25 years, not on the road since 73-74. to say that this will be an intense project is an understatement. engine rebuild/assembly would have to be done by a local (proven and trustworthy) mechanic. i plan on doing all other assembly and cosmetic work.

There was no tag on the wiring harness to help determine the year. Any thoughts on what year this bike is? Need to know because I'm going to have to apply for a salvage title at some point and I haven't seen any dating charts that go beyond '64.

Isn't it funny how somebody always gets the thing tore to pieces but never manages to get it put back together. Good luck with your project. Hopefully you got everything there.

thank you! looks like its just the clutch and transmission that have been dismantled. that's still quite the puzzle to put back together without being the one who took it apart. haha

otherwise its pretty much complete. so far i'm lacking one air cleaner (the remaining one is toast anyway), the original bars, and a side cover. not too bad. the odometer reads under 7k so hopefully most things are in an operative state. i'm going to speak with the county clerk's office today to see if its even possible for me to obtain a title for the bike. wish me luck.
