CB1000?CB1000?A guy down the block is selling a 1983 Honda CB1000 custom that he says is extremely rare. I don't know enough about them to know. He said they were only made for one year. It is in very good condition with two owners. Has 34,279 actual miles. Also "very rare", it has dual range, 10 speed transmission. 5 gears for in town riding and 5 highway gears. Air shocks, Air forks. DOHC, Shaft drive, dual disc front brakes. Inline 4, four stroke 1000cc engine. . Has the original owners manual, tool kit and air pressure gauge. I'm not looking to buy it (he's asking $1,800) I was just kind of curious if it's as rare as he thinks it is!
That's too much unless it is in close to showroom condition, ....................or unless you had one as a teen, are now in good financial shape, and want to re-live your youth!
NADA says $1,000 good cond., $1400 very good condition, and around 2K excellent. Generally, the seller's version of excellent is much better than the book version. The version was available in 80-82 as a 900, then in 83 as a 1000.......so he's only technically correct as to the one year issue. Someday it might be a collector, but not yet. Hey Kigs,, it ain't really a ten speed. It has the usual five speed with a selector
to allow you to put it in a low range or a high range. You still only shift thru a regular 5 speed trans. The motor is basically the cb750 dohc that came out in 1979, it was made into a 900 later on and then the 1000. It was a popular touring type bike for those who didn't want the bigger Goldwing.
