Ball Bearing Size?

Post by Kigsby » Fri Nov 18, 2011 11:55 am

When I bought my '62 Dream CA77, the kickstart wasn't attached, but he gave me all the pieces (I thought). He said the knuckle was installed wrong (incorrect angle). I have to take it off anyway to install a new clutch cable (still having problems getting that knuckle off!) First - does the knuckle look like its at the wrong angle? Second, I'm missing that small little ball bearing that goes next to the spring in the parts diagram. Does anyone know what size it is? One parts book says size 10. Does that mean 10mm ?? The other parts book says 1/4" (I thought these bikes were metric?) Any help would be appreciated.

1/4 in ball. There is no need to take the knuckle off, it will come off with the sidecover when you remove that. You want the kick lever to be at 11:00 when it's all assembled. It looks low in the pic.

Thank you Davo! I've been told I had to take the knuckle off first and I've been wiggling the hell out of it. It moves, but I just can't get it out. I'll try and see if it comes off with the cover. I appreciate the quick response!

No worries! You'll probably have to wiggle it as you're sliding the cover off.
