Different Dreams

Wow-I have been restoring motorcycles for over 20 years and I am still amazed how many 'cycle guys' dont know the products that they sell....I recently purchased a 65 CA77 with all intentions of
restoring it to its former glory and then some...I really like the looks of the bike...my front fender
had been damaged at some point and rather than fix it or replace it they cut the bell off. Knowing
parts are not over plentiful I was careful to pick the parts I had to have to finish this resto...I bought
a fender from a feller who told me it was in good shape and the bell was unmolested. I also purchased a speedo that I was told 'had a small crack in the corner but otherwise a useable unit.
When inquiring as to the fact that the bike was a CA77 I was told"I been in business for 30 years
and I know dreams..." Apparently not.I sent the cashiers check on Dec 29 and a box finally showed
this past Friday...I was stoked.I get the fender out of the box and the bell is mashed like a taco
and rusted damn near clear thru.Plus it is a front fender for a CA95, a 150 not the 305 as he presented it to be. The speedo is split in a spider web on the face and full of dirt.
I felt like I had been punched in the gut.I called the guy after i recovered from my shock and got his
answering machine...I was so impressed how i managed to leave a message without any curse words or death threats...lol...He called me back this morning at 6am(knowing i would be asleep?)
and said if i sent him the parts back he would give me a credit for the amount i paid at his shop.
I live in Colorado and i doubt I will ever go to Alabama to buy parts...Buyers Beware

Hippy, Sorry to hear that you got hosed.
Sounds like a Rants and Raves topic.
We do add the sellers name to avoid future disappointments.
How did you find this seller? Net? Ebay?
BTW, You have a great stable of classic & current cycles. Scram64
