CB72/77 Luggage RackCB72/77 Luggage RackHi All
I need to carry enough stuff for an 1100 mile trip to France including camping gear and the CB72 is too small to carry it using a tank bag and haversack; I did it 3 years ago without the camping stuff and it was a pain in the proverbial. So I want to make a luggage rack and wondered if anyone could help with dimensions of "proper" ones or advice on home made ones. Thanks in advance Phil Phil
Nice plan. Why not get something like this and modify it? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/honda-cb550-rear- ... 500wt_1156 I have one off an old CJ250 somewhere. Cheers G '60 C77 '60 C72 '62 C72 Dream '63 CL72

triangulation ? Not sure bolting it to the mudguard sounds a good idea and there is no seat loop extending beyond the seat .... Phil
Phil, Here's a photo of the Buco rack I had for some ideas of where to support it. It attaches to the rear seat bolts and the license plate mount. There was basically a flat plate that ran across the plate mount and was welded to each side of the rack frame. It was pretty solid once bolted up.
It's difficult to tell from the picture, but the front bars were flattened and notched out to be sandwiched by the seat bolt and the frame. You could remove it just by loosening the seat bolts and sliding the carrier backwards. Much easier than having to mess with the acorn nuts on the suspension mounts.
