Original vs. late Cam Chain tensioner

Post by silverclerk@gmail.com » Wed Nov 17, 2010 10:07 am

I believe I need a new cam chain tensioner. I have the original kind but have only been able to locate the late type for sale. I see in the Honda Service Bulletin that they were directed to continue to use the old type 'til they ran out and then switch to the new type. As I can buy a late type are they interchangeable? I think I remember reading a post on here that says they are not but I am having difficulty finding that thread. Thank you

They are not interchangeable. The hole in the cylinder is narrower. You can use one if you get the later cylinder.

Ah, well that is unfortunate. Thanks for the answer
