Painting parts with grease fittings

Post by Snakeoil » Mon Nov 01, 2010 4:10 pm

While painting my side covers, I found a neat way to easily mask off the grease fittings. A plastic tire valve cap with the little rubber seal removed (if necessary) will snap right over the flange on the pressed in grease fittings. Much easier than trying to mask them with tape.

Also found a great silver paint for these covers. Dupli-color makes a silver caliper paint they say is ceramic. Good for 500 deg F. Covers really well, does not fish-eye and dries to a really nice even finish. Should be pretty tough if it indeed has a ceramic quality to it.

regards,
Rob
