front end interchange?

Post by DCON » Mon Jul 07, 2008 6:47 pm

can any one tell me of a front end swap that will work on a 1965 cb77?
mine is gonna be pricey, and im sure someone knows if say a cb350 might be a direct doner, or anything that will bolt up. this bike will not be original so a disc would be the icing on the cake.
im hopefull some of you guys will steer me right.

I'm pretty sure the CB350 front end will be a direct bolt on. The steering stem diameters are the same, not sure if the length is exactly the same.

I too believe that a CB350 front end will bolt right on. 73s had a disc, and I was thinking about using one on my cafe' bike.

Or you could go really radical .... this uses the front and rear suspension from a 125cc Aprilla.

wow, that is really wild. I would never have believed it. How does it perform? What mods have you done to the drive train?

Hi Allthumbs,

Unfortunately not my bike .. it was in Classic Motorcycle Mechanics as part of an article about the
owner's more modern bike. Apparently he decided to do this as an updated Superhawk; it has a
350cc kit on it but I think everything else is standard.
If you like I can scan the article and email it to you .. contact me direct if you want a copy.

The 125 Aprilla's are very popular here in the UK as a source of modern cycle parts with some
people putting Yamaha 350LC engines in the complete running chassis, think I've even heard of
someone squeezing a Suzuki RG500 engine in...

cheers

Phil
