Wow, Progressive is charging me $247! In order to get cheaper I would have to sign off on no uninsured motorist with liability only. Then it would be $80. I have 2 other vehicles and am 49. Am I getting ripped here?

Mr. Gray,

I have my CL77 and two old Bonnies insured with Foremost. I originally went through Harley Davidson Insurance for a Soft-tail I had and Foremost is a subsidiary they use for vintage machines. Their rates are great according to my wife who keeps the books. That is a fine job on your Scrambler, looks terrific.

Britman,

Thanks for the kind words and the tip for Foremost......I'll check them out.

Are they on the web?

Mr. Gray,

Here you go.
http://www.foremost.com/

Give them a shot, as we all know it pays to shop around this day and time. I still use high test gas in all of my old ones. My insurance bill is about equal with my yearly vintage gas expenditures. Thank goodness I don't ride them that much.

Here's a company I found on the web for classic car and motorcycle insurance.

http://www.americancollectors.com/

They have very reasonable rates and they will insure for replacement value without an appraisal.

For Missouri, Liability was $46.00/yr. + $8.00 for medical payments of $1,000.00 + $4.00 for uninsured motorist + $3.00 for underinsured motorist equalling $61.00/year

For the bike's physical damage, use the following:

You simply state the value of your machine and pay a set rate per $100.00 of stated value based on the deductable you choose.

I.e., if you valued your bike for $4,000.00 and chose a $2500.00 deductable, you would pay $1.90/$100.00 of stated value per year, ($1.90 x 40 = $76.00)

$0 deductable is $2.20/$100.00 of stated value
$500.00 deductable is $1.60/$100.00 of stated value
$1,000.00 deductable is $1.30/$100.00 of stated value

This is in addition to the regular coverage of $61.00/yr for a total of $137.00/year.

Again, these are rates for Missouri and they could vary significantly by state.

I also got a quote from Geico for $81.00/year but that is without stated value coverage.

Have any of you used Americancollector or heard anything about them?

Thanks,

Gary
