Gearbox rebuild

Post by PJM47 » Mon May 13, 2024 8:18 am

Hi folks, in the process of restoring a CB77, 1966. The gearbox was not in a good way, jumping out of second/third if it would go engage at all. So stripped it down. The usual culprits bent shift fork, very badly badly worn bushes. The low gear bronze bushing centre ridge had completely gone. The counter shaft end bushes not great either.
The shift fork will probably bend back into shape and the gears and dogs look ok (mostly) but the bushes are trash.
The problem is where to get spare parts in the UK, nothing much seems to be available other than some very very expensive bits in the US.
Does anyone have any ideas, seems a shame to right off the bike just because of a few worn bushes. What do others do when they have gear box problems?

looks like as a minimum I would need:
Bush (kick start end) (item 13 on parts diagram) 23931259010
Low gear bush (item 14) 23933259010
kick start shaft bush (top hat) (item 20) 28258259010
Also neutral switch is dead but could live without that.

Thanks
