neutral problem

Post by woodrow » Sun May 24, 2015 6:58 pm

My 1966 305 scrambler has been running great since rebuilding the engine last winter, but I had the bike parked in a loose gravel drive way on it's kick stand and it fell over on it's left side.
I doing so the clutch lever was pulled back and snapped the metal off at the pivot pin. No problem I had another clutch lever, put it on and everything works as before except that now no matter how I adjust the clutch I can not shift into neutral while the engine is running. If the engine is off it drops right into neutral but with the engine running there is no way it will go into neutral. I know this problem must be a result of the bike falling over and breaking the clutch handle. Is it possible that the hard yank on the clutch cable during this incident could have bent something else? This is driving me nuts because everything worked great prior to the bike falling over. Woody
