Did you only adjust the cable? Did you also try the adjuster where the cable goes into the right side engine cover. You loosen the bolt with a 10mm wrench and then adjust with a BIG screwdriver or with a nickel in a vise grips.

Hahnda, do you have the front fork chrome covers for your Dream? I see in the picture they're missing. If you're needing a pair I saw some on eBay today.

Just FYI.

I have a 2 pair. Both in not so good shape. I think for now I'm going to chrome paint a set and then sometime look for a better set or get mine re-chromed.

Yes. I adjusted the cable on both ends all the way.
At the end of it, just to be sure the cable didn't stretch like hell for some unknown reason, I actually disconnected the lever and pulled it all the way by hand.
What I'm going to do next, is run the bike up to operating temp, then change the oil, then run it some more and change it once more.
I'm hoping it's just sticking from sitting so long and that it'll loosen up again once it's in regular use.
If not, it'll be time to change the plates...

Regarding oil: the case cover suggests using straight 20W or 30W oil.
Any dangers using 10-40?
My mechanic didn't think so, how about you guys?

p.s. I'm presuming mineral is the way to go, as synthetic wasn't around back then.

another curious question:
I can't see an oil filter anywhere on the bike.
I know some older bikes came with kind of centrifugal system.
Is that the case with my Dream?

Is the clutch not releasing or not engaging? If its not releasing at the plates then yes they might free up with use. What I did on mine was just take it apart, unstick the stuck plates, and out it back together, no problems after that. No new parts needed.

10-40 will work but straight 30 would probably be better.

No filter. Its a centrifugal trap. Easiest to clean it by taking off the left side engine cover. Take note as to how it all goes back together and where the washer goes.
