CB77 Replacement Clutch Recommendations.....
CB77 Replacement Clutch Recommendations.....I'm wondering what folks are using as a replacement clutch and, if OEM is best, are all the parts still available from the powers that be (Ohio Cycle, Western Hills, etc)? Has anyone had experience with any aftermarket ones? Are they any better? Are there any available? I think the one in my '66 SuperHawk will need replacing this year and want to make sure that I'm heading in the right direction with the replacement parts.
Any recommendations / experiences would be greatly appreciated....thanks! Vince-I think "LM" gave out a part number for the clutch plates quite some time ago that will replace the old ones if I'm not mistaken. He may chime in and give it again.I found the number as I speak.Maybe LM will verify this or correct me if needed -222-01-MK2-000.I never purchased any so do please verify.Joe
Hi Joe -- Thanks for the response. Do you know if the OEM clutch is preferable to say, a Barnett? I checked Barnett's web site and they have the plates and spring kits. Anyone have experience with these? Is one more durable/better than another, or does it matter? This is the only mechanical part I haven't yet replaced!
Just had the clutch replaced with new plates and the '425' springs. Lever action is 'like butter', as they say. Plus, my mechanic was able to wheelie the bike with no problem -- not that I will ever need to do that any time soon! He weighs about 220 lbs and was also able to run the beast up to 90 with plenty left over....so look out, all you 500's out there!
