I have tightened it to the fullest, I see full range of motion in the lifter at the end of the shift linkage, but once dropped into 1st or 2nd gear... there is no disengaging the clutch with the lever... it simply stays in gear/stalls out.
I have read some of the other related posts here... though i am not sure if this is the same problem that seems to be typical. Is this also another sticky clutch in need of new discs?
This was a rebuild and has not run in many years.
Many thanks,
Tom
Clutch lever will not disengage clutch. Thanks Stan, that proved to be the right advice. The discs were frozen together. I took it all out, cleaned and lubricated it all and it shifted correctly thereafter.
it is also surprisingly easy to work on this clutch. However, once I had it back together... the kickstarter no longer engaged. I believe the overcompensation I made in the cable is keeping the clutch out enough to keep it from engaging... while it is enough to spin the wheel with no resistance while on the center stand. Ran out of time and will test out that theory tomorrow. many thanks... i think this one will be on the road by the end of the week. Tom
