Front brakes on CA77 305

Post by Bob15 » Thu Jul 16, 2015 1:27 pm

I'm about to undertake a rebuild of the front brakes on my '66 CA77 and am looking for a good step by step tutorial as this is the first time I have done these. Can anyone advise me on what I should be looking for and the typical wear items I might encounter on a 13000 mile bike? I'd like to get this right the first time if I can !
Thanks in advance for your help !
Bob

Not much mystery in there really, just take a few pictures as it's coming apart. The main problem is usually old hardened grease. Clean everything really well. The HONDA manual says 2.5mm is the wear limit on shoe thickness. The lower shoe being "self actuating" will probably be more worn than the upper one. If they both have at least 3mm left, I would just scuff them up and keep them in play in their original positions since they are worn-in that way. I haven't found any other parts worn out in the ones I've done. Use some high temp silicone grease on all of the moving parts during reassembly.

Why are you rebuilding them?
