CB77 front and back brake problem

I have a restored (not by me) 1964 cb77 both front and rear brakes are just not stopping the bike as they should, I took a look at both brakes and on both shoes and only the centre of the lining is making contact with the drum about 3 or 4 inch's both set of shoes front and rear are the same.

The shoes look new and are stamped with the honda logo now they may have been relined, the linings are around 4mm thick on both brakes and very little wear.

The punch marks on the brake cams and arms line up on both front and rear so they are correct I think.

Has any one any idea as to why the linings only make contact in the centre I need to get this sorted before I kill my self from not stopping at the moment the bike is just too dangerous to ride.

EDIT - The parts book states the linings should be 5mm thick mine are 4mm will this make the problem im having.
Are the shoes the same for the front and back.

When you say " the centre" do you mean that it looks like the shoes are a smaller diameter than the hub or that the shoes (or drum) are not flat side to side?

Either way you can either let them bed in as you ride or take either the brake plate and shoes or the hub to a machine shop to true them up.

For the mismatched diameters it was customary to pack the shoes out a little and then skim the shoes (attached to the plate) in a lathe to match the diameter to the drum.
