Front fork oil seal replacement

Post by SMBH » Wed Mar 19, 2014 3:39 pm

I have a total rebuilt 1964 CB77 after many miles and problems most I have sorted, I just came back after a run and noticed oil on one of the chrome covers was running down and a small drip on the floor so it looks like one of the fork seals have gone so my questions are -

CAN I JUST REMOVE THE ONE FORK LEG WITH OUT TAKING OFF HEADLAMP AND TOP YOKE ?

MY IDEA IS TO JUST REMOVE WHEEL, MUDGUARD, TOP FORK NUT, PINCH BOLT, AND WILL THE ONE FORK LEG DROP DOWN ?

I ONLY WISH TO REPLACE THE SEAL ON THE ONE LEG THAT IS LEAKING.

MY FORKS ARE STEEL.

The slider will come off without removing a lot of parts.
Axle, fender bolt, unscrew the chrome part from the slider, remove slider then chrome part. ........lm
