CA78 Exhaust Gasket Question

Post by garncarz » Fri Jan 03, 2014 8:55 am

I just found out that my exhaust header copper crush rings are missing. That probably explains the black schmutz on the fins behind the headers pipes!

Fortunately, I found two OEM replacements. Does anyone know the torque spec for the header nuts? Couldn't find it in the service manaual.

Thanks.

Just snug them down evenly as you crush the seals, I don't think there's a torque spec. You can always tighten a little more later.

Chuck is right about snugging the header flanges.

Jensen put up a really good post on tightening the whole exhaust system so no unnecessary stress results. Do a search and find it. It might save you from cracking a muffler mount.
