MUFFLERS INFO PLEASE

Post by peter123 » Sat Sep 13, 2008 5:06 am

Hello ,
Dramas ! Anyone know there Honda Dream mufflers well ???
I bought a set of ca77 mufflers off ebay "Brand new still in the box" ? I'm sure you guys have seen them . Anyway when they arrived which by the way is in Australia , The mufflers were not the same ones as pictured on ebay. They are dream mufflers , But they have no Collars ? There is no Collar were the pipe fits the muffler . I have been told by the seller that they are Dream Mufflers but an earlier version & he has sent the wrong ones.
I have never seen dream mufflers without a collar before perhaps we only got the models with the Collars down here .
My problem is I'm not sure if they will fit a 1964 ca77 305 Dream & my bike & motor are all in bits so it's a bit hard to be sure by just sitting the parts on the bike . Perhaps one of you Guys can fill me in a bit on these mufflers without collars . Will they fit ?

All so these mufflers are sold as HONDA NOS , But you can see that they have some grind marks in them & appear to be Repaired & Re-chromed .
Not NOS.
For me to ship them back to the states & then back again is Risky & costly So if they fit I'll problem keep them as they look good on the bike , but there not the product your told they are when buying. Any help or information would be great / Peter [iImagemg][/img][iImagemg] [/Imageimg]

mufflers info

Hi Peter, yes they will fit your Dream. You will have to purchase rubber connecters that fit in the end of the mufflers to use them. There are a few companies on e-bay who sell them.

Hi Mike, Thanks for the reply. What's the story with these mufflers. I have not see any without the Collars before. All the bike pics, I see on the web have the collar Mufflers. Was it a muffler type that Honda only used for a short while ? Thanks Peter

I'm not sure why they are like that,my guess is that they were cheaper and easier to make. Some other guys on this discussion board can probably give you a better answer on that.

Guys, that's the collar seal for the silencers/mufflers with the collar. The older, plain types need the black sleeves with a flange on one end. I'll find you a link and get back here.
