Forks on wrong side?

Post by cribbs74 » Sat Sep 29, 2007 10:48 pm

All,

Just installed the newly freshened forks onto the frame today, All went well except when all was said and done I noticed the left fork pipe was installed in the right slider and vice versa. Will this hurt anything they looked identical which is probably why I didn't pay attention to which slider they went to. The sliders are on the correct side just they innards are reversed Don't want to damage anything and now is the time to change before I go further.

Maybe I should explain myself a little better..

There is and "L" stamped onto the fork tube right on top next to the fill hole and an"L" stamped onto one of the sliders. I just assumed it meant they go together and are to be mounted on the left side. I could be wrong and it may mean nothing.

I found nothing concerning this in my Silvers or Clymer................

I found the info I needed...............For those who would like to know, it is of no concern where the fork rods go as long as the sliders are on the correct side........Per LM and ggray.
