decided to buy a set... still would like to know if you can repair these CA dampeners.

I think the threads are peened, and that is why there is so much initial resitance. If you find a tool that fits well into the holes, you should be able to unscrew the cap, and fill with fresh oil. By replating, I mean it was cadnium plated.
