Thanks Tom. It seems, from my research thus far, that most of the above fitments / mods were applied during '61; the frame's rear seat support arrangement was the only mod that was actually, and definitely, applied at the intro of '62 model-year frame numbers.

Where you say "Stanley D2R short lenses", do you mean pic 1 or pic 2? There's a third, larger type that wasn't fitted until the very last '67 models, and it was then continued on (Euro, at least) other models until Honda 'spread their wings' in the '70s.

Well, blow me down! Another market variant!

We've strayed a bit off the subject -- my fault, I'm afraid -- but great info for the pot!

Thanks Tom.

Any chance of tracings or pics of the matching numbers?
The bulb holder for your tail light should have the bulb socket at an angle as if ya put this lens on a 63 and later holder the bulb will melt/warp the lens.
All 1962 CL72 bikes had this lens. .........lm

My bikes CB77-21905 CB77E-211905 (No kidding, matching numbers)

Great info, Tom & Ed; I'm glad we strayed off the original topic. Great info for an OCD anorak -- I'm noting it all!
