What's the trick? ('67 Dream stem nut)

I am tearing down my '67 Dream for paint and when I got to the stem nut on the steering, I am stymied! I tried a large adjustable wrench on the square nut and some persuasion from a heavy wood mallet (impact) and it wouldn't budge. I restored to a 1-5/16 3/4 inch drive socket and a breaking bar (same wooden mallet) and it still wont budge! WTF!!!!

Am I missing something?

What's the trick?

Got it apart.

The keys, in order, were:
-Penetrating oil,
- Heat until the oil bubbles or smokes,
- A heavy 1-5/16 socket with 3/4" breaking bar,
- A medium size blacksmith's hammer,
- IMPACT!

3 or 4 times and she popped loose.
