Front brake arm...

Post by R100 » Fri Sep 04, 2015 10:57 am

My bike came without the tongued washer(s) on the front brake arm.
Can someone tell me what its function is, as opposed to a normal washer?

It's a tab washer and is used as an extra security device to stop the bolt backing out and leading to a horrible end for you........

Of course, thanks G. Never having seen one in person, I didn't realize it was one of those "bend it over and always use a new one" items. Seems there were a lot of those back in the '60's.
For the price of these things plus shipping, I think I can do just as well with Loctite or a tidy safety wire job.

Yep, safety wire works even better.
