Exhaust flange repair

Post by cribbs74 » Thu Sep 13, 2007 10:08 am

'66 CL77 3/4 of my flange on one exhaust pipe is missing. I am planning on removing the remainder of the flange and weld a 5/8 washer to it then remove the material to get the inside diameter correct. Anybody know of a better fix. Apart from replacing the pipe anyway...................

Did you just win those on Ebay?
If it were me I would remove whats left of the old flange and weld the pipe joints(they are the parts that look like this () that go between the head and the exhaust nut) directly to the pipe flush with the end. You follow?

Nope came on the bike, never thought of that good idea. Think it would seal?

The welded on halves should act as a flange against the head. Youll wanna use the copper exhaust gaskets not that cotton w/ wire lookin crap.
