Are 305 CA78's Picky on What Exhaust You Run On Them?

Post by mason123h » Sat Mar 01, 2014 9:56 am

I was thinking of running some modern 100-250 cc scooter mufflers on my ca78. Will that work? How picky are the engines on exhaust? I know I will at least have to rejet it.

Thanks for the help!

As long as they are not too restrictive, I wouldn't worry too much about it.

If you are going to use scooter mufflers, try to find some that are designed for an equivavlent size or larger motor if possible.

For example, if you use 2 mufflers off a single cylinder 200cc scooter, that would likely be ok., but not if from a 100cc model.

May not even need re-jetting.

If money is the issue with what mufflers you use then think about the after market mufflers that are for sale new on Ebay. They cost about $75.00 and they do work well. I just changed from a set of these to go with an original set of stainless muffler with baffles. Both mufflers sound good and work fine but nothing looks as good as the originals. That's just my opinion though.
