I am refurbishing the starter clutch of my CB77. The Manual recommends using a Honda special silicone grease on the rollers and springs in the clutch. Any one know of an alternative grease which will working in this application?

Grease for CB77 Starter Clutch
Re: Grease for CB77 Starter ClutchHere is some related discussion- http://www.honda305.com/forums/starter- ... ght=clutch I swear I remember somebody mentioning no lube in this area. At least on the rollers anyhow. Lube in the starter clutch area will only help the rollers slip where they need to grab. Maybe someone else can confirm this? Maybe the manual is referring to the starter gears that need lube? At any rate- a synthetic brake caliper grease or dielectric grease would work as a substitute as both are silicone based. 3M offers a silicone paste as well. HTH 64' CB77

Re: Grease for CB77 Starter ClutchThanks guys for the advice. I see on one of the past posts that Molykote or graphite grease was used by someone. However, I can understand the logic for no grease at all. Will be stripping it next weekend so will see what I find inside.
