Exhaust headers IDExhaust headers IDI was wondering if anyone can identify these exhaust headers as original or aftermarket. When I bought my CB77, it had aftermarket straight pipes on it. The original CB77 mufflers came with the bike, but Im not sure about the headers. Ive seen pictures of other Superhawks where it looks like the headers come closer to the starter in the front. I have it mocked up in the photo and it seems to fit...
Darned if you arn't right. Mine appear to have a sharper bend up toward the head/flange and are much closer to the starter.
Dont have a definitive answer for you though as to which is correct. I would assume if they appear new that they are aftermarket. Looks spectacular reguardless!!! 64' CB77
65' CB160
My original pipes are closer too.

I have a 'pair' of NOS headers in Honda bags. One has the tight bend and one has the easy bend. I think that Honda produced two types. Are yours double-skinned? I don't think that aftermarket pipes were.
Genuine racekit pipes (810 part number) are different again had a tighter bend which barely clear the starter. G '60 C77 '60 C72 '62 C72 Dream '63 CL72

My 1964 CB77 had the Hoosier Tom style header. Both were double walled. I have yet to find an aftermarket pipe that fits. Most are not bent enough, so they come out about 1-1/2" below the muffler inlet, when attached to the cylinder head. One even contacted the starter. The Swarbrick pipes do fit quite well, but are not really stock appearing. Regards, Chase
