throttle hinge lube??

Post by ironangel » Mon Feb 14, 2011 11:10 pm

Need some guidance to lube or not to lube the throttle hinge. When I took it apart it had some grease, looked like maybe some type of graffite.I've been leanining to leave it dry to prevent the possibility of it gumming up and sticking. What is the proper procedure? thanks...Jerry

Lube of your choice.

External throttle I use 30W motor oil

Internal throttle I use waterproof grease

You will get varying recommendations, Honda Service manual just says "lubricate"

I'd use some lightweight silicone grease; chandleries have it in a toothpaste tube size -- yachties use it for winch lube. Doesn't change viscosity too much with temperature changes, and is pretty much non-melting.
