Correct. I ran straight pipes. Megaphones will increase the effective powerband but drop the peak (usually).
We tried a few different configurations on that bike with different lengths and with different mufflers and all in all not much of a difference. That motor is a little different to stock of course. The man that really knows about exhausts on those bikes is Jerry.
He has tried a number of different configurations to come up with what they run and I'm sure, that like most things on Jerry's bikes, they would work better than my straight pipes. I had reached teh point that after so many different combinations of parts and testing and breaking things and trying something new, that eventually I got to the point that the I realized that the bike was never the limiting factor - the rider was - and that's me.
The Concept of Back Pressure...
Great reply there teazer.
Thanks for sharing. Similar to your riding I learned my limits also. When I raced the Mickey Thompson Super Lite stadium series I watched in wonder when a competitor would mess with jetting and/or lighten parts to the point the piston would seize or hole and the part would break. I figured I could miss a couple of heavy meals and gain speed rather than jeopardize me finishing. . .................:-) ...........lm Now where's that cold beer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!??????????????
