Fork problem/questions?

Post by carlluvscorinne » Sat Apr 01, 2006 4:52 pm

Hello all: I just took apart my front end..Just wondering if it should be 19 balls on top & 18 balls on bottom (I didn't mix them up I kept them seperate). also the left side fork is 2" longer than the right? I noticed i can twist the tube on the right side and it will also extend out about 2", but I can compress it by hand and twist it to lock it back down. the left side i can compress and twist, but it won't lock back down. Is this normal? Any suggestions?
Thanx, Carl

carl, there should be 18 on each end. Iv'e wondered how critical that count is,could one get by with more or less?? you seem to have. They are easy to lose so I would think there are alot of these running around with to few or to many balls. Man that sounds like a joke oughta be there somewhere! About the forks; sounds like its time for a tear down and clean-up then some new seals. Good Luck Steve(kustommusic) Greer

Thanx Steve....I thought it was odd for (2) different #'s of balls. I,m not lookin forward to trying to tear the forks down. From what I read on this forum, it seems like a total PITA.
Thanx Again, Carl
