Petcock Problem Question

My CB77 petcock functions perfectly in the off position and reserve position. However I have no gas flow when it in the standard on position. Can any one give me a simple solution. I remove the bowl and try to run a piano wire up the hole when it is the on position and the wire wound not move very far.

The cause of that is usually a rubber inner gasket instead of cork. I ditched mine and came up with this:
