High idle with choke off

Post by bsanorton » Fri Sep 18, 2009 12:43 am

Just picked up a 63' CB77. The right carb was badly gummed up as well as the petcock. Cleaned all carb parts thouroughly soaking in my one gallon carb cleaner overnight. The pilot & main jets are clean. The idle circuit is clean and not blocked. Actually cleaned everthing twice and the idle remains high when I remove the choke. I have the air cleaner & tubes removed for easy access & also because they are shot. The carb slides are adjusted in the fully down position & not sticking. Help appreciated, do they need to have the air cleaners on to get the idle down?

well I read all the good stuff on this site & I was able to settle in the idle pretty decent for now. I'm waiting on air filters. Still need to dial her in but adjusted slides & idle jet screw as per writings here.
here's a 1st look on the resurrection! LOL!

Sounds good! It looks like you have a nice complete bike if you plan to restore it.
