crazy idle

Post by dkemp » Fri Jul 22, 2005 11:47 pm

I have cb77 I just cleaned up and kind of got running. I had the bike running and idling great then came back next day and couldn't start. Put in new plugs then it idled way to high(4000rpm) adjusted idle air screw way out idled fine but couldn't give it throttle without it trying to die then finally it died and I couldn't start it. I am unsure if I have the right plugs yet D8HA I believe the first plugs might have been wrong to because I crossreferenced to get them and they were a different number then the last set I put in.

Might just be wrong plugs anyone know what I need.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

dkemp, Welcome to the forum! Sounds like the right spark plugs. Plugs wouldn't cause the idle and running problems you describe. One can't ever be sure but,,,,,sounds like dirty carb. problems. The idle mix screw should only be out about 1 1/8 turn under normal circumstance. Have you checked the throttle slides for operation or the throttle cable? Do you have a shop manual? I highly recomend one. Good luck and let us know how you come out,Steve Greer
