Tank, no balancing tube.

Post by Dream two » Sat Jul 22, 2017 8:38 am

All,

Just started work on a 1967 305 Dream vin # C781007135. I believe this to be a Canadian model. It has a KM speedo and turn signals
Removed the tank and much to my surprise there are no outlets to fit a balancing hose. Just a (working) original fuel tap.The tank was, you guessed, it half full.
Can anyone tell me anything about this?

Thank you,

Rudy Li NY

We also used archaic units back then so a metric speedometer does not mean Canadian. However, I ordered a replacement unit in the middle 70s and Honda sent the dealer a metric one so something similar may have happened with this bike. Or, it may have started its life somewhere other than Canada or the U.S.

Fair enough Tim but add the turn signals, not to be had in the U.S at that time. Anyway, that all doesn't matter so much, it's the tank that's got me stumped. I mean, only have a 3/4 tank, at best, available seems a little weird to me. I thought perhaps an import/export thing? Anyone?

Later models had the balance tube deleted. Normally you can rely on the fuel sloshing around in the tank to even things up. If you cannot live with it you could get an earlier tank.....

Thanks G,

If it is correct I can live with it. Not the first time I would have to lean a bike over to get to the "reserve."
