Installing Air CleanersInstalling Air CleanersInstalling air cleaners on my newly acquired CA77. I find two tubes, on my old air cleaners they are crimped closed. I'm wondering if I link the two air cleaners together with a short length of hose or tube? Or should these be connected to something else?
I still had the original air cleaner (there is only one air cleaner on the Dream) and I also had the two clear hoses that went from each cyl. to the LEFT side of the air cleaner where you have two holes where the hoses slide into. You will find that MOST people now say that you can just plug up those holes on the heads as they really didn't server any purpose.
SEE THIS POST about those tubes: http://www.honda305.com/forums/post7898 ... ght=#78985 Jim
Now working/riding on my 1965 CA77 Dream... H;connect the two nipples on the cyl head together with hose. originally they went induvidually to the air cleaner. this(in later model years) was found by Honda to be non productive, they dropped the nipples/etc. the idea was to vent the outer surface of the valve guides to atmosphere to prevent oil wicking into the combustion chamber.
Good luck Randy
