Carb nightmare C77

Post by Gregg » Mon Apr 02, 2007 8:29 am

What a great forum. Have read all info on carbs. How can such a simple mechanical devise cause so much profanity in my garage. Floats set 26.5mm, needle lowered (clip on the top groove) since I installed a new Keystar float rebuild kit which had larger jets (130 I think), carb immaculately cleaned, carb not overtightened and still it runs rich when I can get it started. After months of restoration this small devise has me stymied. Reading the forum, it seems like this may be a common problem for a lot of us. I need help. Thanks.
Oh, and BTW all electronics, timing and gaps set to spec.

Probably not much help here, but I just took a look at 4 different carbs and they all had 120 main jets. Did you use a new jet needle?

What do you mean by"Float rebuild kit"?Did you put a new float in and the carb rebuild kit?.Are you sure your float needle is seated?Float not hitting sides of gasket either? If not it may be flooding the cylinders and that would foul the plugs right away.I used the Keyster kit also and had to move the clip up one notch with the 130 main or my plugs fouled almost as soon as I got it running.
