Throttle issue

1964 Dream Throttle issue. I've included a video to help illustrate what I believe is an issue with the throttle. There seems to be play in the throttle before it catches and then seems to grab, but upon release it is extremely slow.

the throttle mechanism for the dream is all internal. you have some issue with the pipe grip/ wire hinge/ wire stopper. There is a channel the wire end follows as you turn the throttle. I had a similar issue where the grip would just keep spinning, i took it apart and cleaned and oiled the cable. i dont remember what i did, it was a couple years ago but it fixed the prob.

if you take it apart post some pics. it will help some vets see the prob.

The slow return to me means you need to take your cable off and clean it. While your at it, clean your carb. I clean the cables by hanging them and dripping some PB blaster down the cables then moving the cable in and out till it drips out the bottom, then lube them back up with some reg oil.

Take it apart and post a few pics if you can. The internal Dream throttles will never snap back, I don't think they were designed to. There are a couple of parts that wear in there and luckily they're not that hard to find. Also, your throttle tube shouldn't be that sloppy on the end of the handlebar, the whole assembly may be mounted in the wrong spot. Once you get it apart, you'll see how it's supposed to work and what is worn.

I know I am bringing this back from the dead but this last post raised some questions for me. My issue is bike was a junker then rebuilt it. New cables. drag bars. rebuilt carb. (new to carbs). Issue is the throttle does not snap back as I thought it should and feels stiff. I used a heavy moly grease on the throttle tube which may be a small part of the issue. The cable is also a little long with the much shorter bars so I may need to shorten it.

Question is the guy above stated they do not snap back? Is that true as I have never been around my bike running?

I have never seen a Dream throttle snap back. Its more of a really slow roll back at best, at least the one I have had and seen.
