Carb slide 1966 CL77

Post by seagrays » Sat Nov 06, 2010 11:25 pm

Hi, new to forum and ownership of a '66 and '67 Scrambler. Checking to see if anyone has experienced a problem with a sticking carb slide. Parked bike for two weeks with bike running well and go to start this morning and left slide is hanging up. Cannot seem to figure out how or why. No obvious problem. Rt. side working fine. Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks.

Carb slide

Seagray, It's more than likely one of 5 things: 1 gummed up. 2 Carb bolts are too tight. 3 Cable is fouled somewhere. 4 Idle screw misadjusted. 5 Intake leak. Bike had probably been sitting for awhile, time to go through them anyway. Also, use the tune-up method in the FAQ section on the left side of this page. Oh yeah, welcome to the asylum....................................D. BTW, Where ya from?

Thanks for the response and suggestions. I'll go through it and let you know what I find. I'm in San Rafael...Marin County, just north of SF. Thanks again.

Yes, Chris came by yesterday, and picked up a part. It was great meeting another 305 guy that lives so close! Exchanged some great stories, and we will surely stay in contact!
