Re: 305 dream no lightsThe starter circuit is independent of the other circuits. From the battery there are just two connections, to terminal BAT on the main switch and also to the rectifier. If you have 12V at BAT then try disconnecting the wire from the rectifier. It may be a coincidence that you have had to fit a new b...
Re: How not to change a float bowl gasket!I think it is important to report back on any issues and the issue this time was caused by fitting a non standard gasket which sort of melted and screwed up the carb’. I had previously removed the carb’ and cleaned just the jets to no avail so this time it was removed and spent 30 minutes in an ultr...
How not to change a float bowl gasket! My bike, a 1966 CA77 was running well but smelled of petrol, and then I noticed it actually leaking out of the carburettor when the bike was on the side stand. I had read about a home made float bowl cork gasket working well and stopping any leaks so decided to try it. I used a rubber/cork material ...
Re: C72 from FranceI had trouble finding the sprockets here in UK and eventually bought a 15T gearbox sprocket for a CB77 and machined it (thinner) to fit. The chain size for a CA77 is 525 and for a CB77 is 530 i.e. it is wider. Also be sure to check the gearbox sprocket splines match the shaft as I found there are bo...
CA77 Brake UpgradeWhen Honda designed the C72/C77 they made a very competent machine, regarded as a ‘Gentleman’s motorcycle’ by a contemporary tester. But then the CB version took it into a different class and much more sporting. Maybe this explains why the CB has rather good brakes and the C version simply doesn't. ...

When I did it one came out and the other was destroyed in the process. They are a special design and I made new ones using low head stainless steel allen screws and machine...
Re: Condenser will the CB77 fit a CA77?To answer my own question, yes the CB condenser works fine on the CA using just one half of it. I measured a CB condenser at .26 and .27 uF which compares well with the .24 uF shown on the wiring diagram. An added bonus is now the bike carries it's own spare condenser.
